Green up your lawn, not the lake: choose Ecoscape
Our misson at Ecoscape Design is to provide clients with the freedom to enjoy their lawn and landscaping, with peace of mind knowing their family, pets, pollinators, and the local ecology (Skaneateles Lake) will not be subjected to harmful chemicals. Ecoscape Design works to stay ahead of the game, utilizing the newest “green” products, eco-friendly land care practices, and battery-powered equipment. As a member of the Skaneateles Lake Association, Ecoscape Design can specifically help you promote the community’s “Clear Lake, Pure Water” initiative through our “lawns-to-meadows” program with SUNY ESF, organic lawn care program, native plantings, and other ecological landscaping services.
Traditional lawn care chemicals have been linked to cancer, the decline of pollinators, and the rise of harmful algal blooms in freshwater lakes. Furthermore, degradation of the water quality in Skaneateles Lake over time could impact the local economy, property values, and threaten the supply of drinking water to the city of Syracuse.
By choosing Ecoscape Design as your landscape and lawn care providers, you can help preserve the water quality of Skaneateles Lake and all that this lakeside community has to offer, while securing your property investment for years to come.

About the owner
Lyle Somers grew up on a 287-acre certified, sustainable tree farm on the New York-Vermont border, with summers spent at his family’s camp in the Finger Lakes. After graduating, Lyle moved to Syracuse to study environmental science and engineering. While on scholarship at Le Moyne College, Lyle worked part time jobs in private landscaping and in public agency research. This fueled his passion for beautifying landscapes while nurturing the natural environment—hence “Ecoscape Design”. After college, Lyle spent the past six years developing his skills; first working in Plant Industry controlling the spread of invasive species for the NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets, then moving on to work directly under the bosses of two highly respected landscape and turf management businesses around the Skaneateles and greater Syracuse areas. Lyle’s field expertise and interpersonal skills show through in his meticulous attention to detail and ability to inspire staff to go the extra mile to serve clients’ needs.
